Religious School

Registering, 2018

Please contact Turia or Miriam by August 6th to confirm your plan to send your child to Beth Shalom Religious School. They need to know so they can prepare the teachers and order materials.

The school sent registration forms (via Mike) on July 18th. Please check your email. If you have not already submitted your registration form by orientation, please bring it to the orientation.

Parent Orientation, 2018

Our parent orientation meeting will be August 19th at 9 a.m. at Beth Shalom (with coffee and bagels!). We look forward to seeing all of you then!

Beth Shalom's religious school is based on curriculum from the ISJL (the Goldring/Woldenberg Institute of Southern Jewish Life).

The school is excited to offer a couple of new learning tools as well this year:

  • The Online Learning Center, in conjunction with the Behrman House Hebrew Curriculum, will enable students to practice their Hebrew at home using fun and engaging Apps! Stay tuned for more info on this.
  • Mini Morning T'filah will be added to the current music session. Students will practice prayers together, and pre-b'nai mitzvah students will have the opportunity to practice leading.

Classes range from pre-K through Bar/Bat Mitzvah. Final preparation for Bar/Bat Mitzvah is often coordinated with help from one or more of the ISJL rabbis.

Classes generally run on the same schedule as Auburn University. This year, classes begin on August 26th and end in late April.

The Pre-K class will run from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. with songs, crafts, and fun!

The grade school program will run from 10:00 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. We will begin our day with a
school gathering to learn songs and prayers and hear announcements. Then students will break into classes for Hebrew and Judaic studies. A mid-morning snack will be provided by parents in rotation.

We may include a field trip or two. We'll keep you informed.
