We were founded on May 20, 1989, and Beth Shalom is the only organized Jewish congregation in East Alabama. Our synagogue building was dedicated on November 15, 1992. While our congregation is lay-led, we have regular visits from visiting rabbis, particularly from the Goldring/Woldenberg Institute of Southern Jewish Life.
We are affiliated with the Union for Reform Judiam and the Goldring/Woldenberg Institute of Southern Jewish Life, and are also members of the Jewish Federation of Central Alabama.
We have a close relationship with the Auburn University Hillel. All our services and events are open and free to Hillel students, including High Holy Day services. If you are an Auburn student and interested in Hillel, please contact Dr. Patterson at Auburn. We also have a close relationship with the Jewish fraternity Alpha Epsilon Pi (AEPi). Also, check out Auburn's AEPi Colony.
We have regular Friday night services, usually starting at 7:00 p.m. The first Friday of the month is usually a family service, which starts at 6:00 p.m. On most Saturday mornings, we have Torah study starting at 9:00 a.m. For more information, please email us at bethshalomauburn@gmail.com.
